SMC-BMC Hot Press Production

Hot Press Molding Technology

There are a total of 5 hot presses in our factory, with capacities of 200, 400, 600, 800 and 1200 kg. We produce high-strength, light and durable composite parts with SMC (Sheet Molding Compound) and BMC (Bulk Molding Compound) technologies.

What is SMC-BMC Hot Press?

SMC (Sheet Molding Compound) and BMC (Bulk Molding Compound) are glass fiber reinforced thermoset plastic based composite materials. These materials are molded using the hot press method to obtain high-strength, lightweight and corrosion-resistant parts.

What is SMC (Sheet Molding Compound)?

SMC is a composite material in the form of thermosetting plastic-based sheets reinforced with glass fiber. It is generally preferred to produce high-strength, light and durable parts used in the automotive, construction, electrical and industrial sectors.

Structure of SMC

  • Resin: Generally polyester or vinyl ester resin is used.
  • Glass Fiber: It is used to give mechanical strength to the material.
  • Additives: Various chemical additives are added to increase the processability and properties of the material.

Features of SMC

  • High Strength: Provides high mechanical durability thanks to glass fiber reinforcement.
  • Lightness: It is much lighter than metal alternatives.
  • Corrosion Resistance: Does not rust and does not rot, has a long life in chemical environments.
  • Thermal and Electrical Insulation: It has high thermal and electrical insulation properties.
  • Aesthetics and Processability: It can be easily shaped and its surface is smooth.
  • Fire Resistance: Thanks to its thermoset structure, it is resistant to high temperatures and fireproof.

Advantages of SMC

  • Long-Lasting: Resistant to corrosion and environmental effects.
  • Light and Strong: Although it is lighter than metal alternatives, it offers high strength.
  • Low Maintenance Cost: Maintenance requirements are low as it does not rust or rot.
  • Easily Formable: Parts with complex geometries are possible.

Automotive Industry

Vehicle hoods, bumpers, ceiling panels, inner door panels. It saves fuel thanks to its lightness.

Electrical and Electronics

Electrical panels, insulators, switching boxes and electrically insulated products.

Construction and Infrastructure

Roof coverings, facade panels, water tanks and manhole covers.

Industrial Applications

Machine parts, chemical tanks and piping systems.

What is BMC (Bulk Molding Compound)?

BMC (Bulk Molding Compound) is a paste-like composite material based on glass fiber reinforced thermosetting plastic. Although similar to SMC, it is suitable for different production methods and applications with its denser structure.

Structure of BMC

  • Resin: Generally polyester, vinyl ester or epoxy resin is used.
  • Glass Fiber: Short-cut glass fibers add strength to the material.
  • Fillers: Fillers such as calcium carbonate improve mechanical and thermal properties.
  • Additives: Color pigments, hardeners and other additives improve performance.

Features of BMC

  • High Strength: Superior mechanical durability thanks to glass fiber reinforcement.
  • Thermal and Electrical Insulation: Resistant to high temperatures and excellent electrical insulation.
  • Corrosion Resistance: Rustproof and rotproof, long-lasting in humid and chemical environments.
  • Lightness: Significantly lighter than metal materials.
  • Easy Formability: Ideal for the production of complex shaped parts.
  • Fire Resistance: Thanks to its thermoset structure, it does not burn or catches fire easily.

Advantages of BMC

  • Long Lasting: Excellent resistance to corrosion and environmental influences.
  • Lightweight and Strong: Lightweight but high strength compared to metal materials.
  • Low Maintenance Cost: It does not require maintenance as it does not rust or rot.
  • Economical Production: Provides cost advantage in high volume production.
  • Easy Machinability: Successful in the production of complex detailed parts.

Electrical and Electronics

Electrical panels, junction boxes, insulators and socket boxes.

Automotive Industry

Headlight housings, engine covers, air filters and lightweight durable parts.

Consumer Products

Household appliances (iron soleplates, microwave oven parts) and durable plastic products.

Construction and Infrastructure

Manhole covers, water meter boxes and structural elements requiring durability.

Industrial Applications

Chemical tanks, pump parts and industrial equipment.
