Composite parts hot-press moulded from SMC and BMC
SMC and BMC are thermoset composite materials reinforced with glass fibre. Pressed in heated moulds, they become light, rust-free parts with repeatable dimensions. The panels of our GRP modular water tanks are made the same way.

GRP Modular Water Tank
GRP modular water tanks are built by joining panels hot-press moulded from SMC. Because they are delivered in pieces and assembled on site, they can also go inside buildings and into spaces with narrow access; dimensions are set by the needs of each project.

SMC and BMC
Both are made of thermoset resin, glass fibre and fillers or additives; what sets them apart is the form in which they enter the mould.
SMC
Sheet Moulding Compound
Supplied as sheet
Suited to large parts with a clean, even surface. Our GRP water tank panels are moulded from SMC.
BMC
Bulk Moulding Compound
Supplied as a dough-like compound
Suited to small, detailed parts with complex shapes.
SMC and BMC parts are commonly used in infrastructure, electrical and industrial applications.
How hot-press moulding works
The material is shaped under pressure in a heated two-part mould and cures inside it.
The material is prepared
SMC sheets are cut to suit the mould; BMC compound is weighed for the part.
It is charged into the mould
The prepared material is placed in the heated lower mould.
The press closes
The upper mould comes down; the material fills the cavity under pressure and cures with heat.
The part is removed
The mould opens, flash is trimmed and any finishing is carried out.

Light weight
Lighter than metal, which makes handling and installation easier.
Corrosion resistance
Does not rust or rot, so it suits damp environments.
Electrical insulation
Does not conduct electricity, so it can be used where insulation is needed.
Freedom of form
Parts with complex shapes can be moulded in a single operation.
Repeatable quality
Parts from the same mould match in dimensions and surface.
Resin-dependent properties
Chemical resistance and fire behaviour depend on the resin system chosen.
