Features and uses

What is pultrusion?

In pultrusion, continuous glass-fibre reinforcement first passes through a resin bath and is then pulled through a die that gives the profile its final shape. Because the process runs without interruption, structural parts with a constant cross-section can be produced quickly and in series.

Why GRP profiles?

Light
Pultruded profiles can be up to 75% lighter than their steel equivalents, which makes transport, handling and installation easier.
Corrosion-resistant
They do not rust, so structures exposed to moisture, chemicals and the weather need little maintenance.
Non-conductive
The material does not conduct electricity.
Coloured through
Pigment can be added to the resin during production; the colour runs through the material, so no separate painting is needed.
Easy to work on site
Profiles can be cut and drilled with suitable tools and joined with bolts, screws, rivets or adhesive.
Continuous production
The uninterrupted pultrusion process allows constant-section profiles to be produced quickly and in series.
